Compared to all the other gorges in Mallorca, Gorg Blau-Sa Fosca is undoubtedly the island’s best and possibly one of the finest in Europe. Its formations, dimensions, and topography leave no doubt about its greatness.
A natural miracle stretching over 6 kilometers from its birthplace at the Gorg Blau reservoir to its majestic convergence at the Entreforc of the Torrent de Pareis, it features the incredible “Sa Fosca” (“the darkness”) section, where the gorge winds through an extraordinarily narrow passage, with walls rising a hundred meters high and so close together that they obstruct sunlight, engulfing you in darkness.
It offers an unparalleled adventure with over 50 jumps, numerous slides, siphons, rappels, and countless deep gorges.
Our journey usually commences at the Pont Natural, as the earlier section lacks significant sporting appeal. Already, you’ll spend nearly 2 thrilling hours exploring before entering Sa Fosca. At the Pas de l’Acolloniment, we pause to gather strength, equip our headlamps, and embark on almost 2 more hours of authentic adventure through narrow crevices, measuring as little as 40 centimeters wide.
Upon emerging from this exhilarating experience, we find ourselves in the natural wonderland of Torrent de Pareis, greeted by its awe-inspiring Entreforc, where walls rise like monumental buttresses, some reaching heights surpassing 300 meters. From here, we bid farewell to our wetsuits, don comfortable attire, and commence a 1-hour and 45-minute return hike.
